CAPE Forum – Carers and Parents in Enfield
Overview
CAPE is a group of carers and parents (and relatives) of adults aged 18 years and over with learning disabilities in Enfield. CAPE provides a forum where your voice can be heard and membership is FREE.
We aim to invite speakers to our meetings, who can inform and advise our members on issues affecting people with learning disabilities and their carers. We circulate emailed information, to CAPE members, following each meeting.
CAPE offers:
- Support and Friendship
- Peer advocacy through regular CAPE meetings
- Advice and information
- Voicing Carers’ issues
Carers of young people in transition are welcome to attend meetings to learn about adult provision, benefit from our expertise, and share their experiences.
CAPE is there for you and your relative with learning disabilities irrespective of whether they live at home with you or are in residential or supported living arrangements.
All CAPE members are carers of people with learning disabilities, so we truly are ‘experts by experience’. For families of young people leaving school, adult services can seem intimidating and complex. At CAPE, we have all ‘been there and done that’, so by sharing our knowledge and experience, we can really support each other.
