Making Sense of Autism Autism Education Trust Training (AET)

Overview

When your child is identified autistic you may have many questions.
Making Sense of Autism is like a roadmap to understanding how your child’s brain works.

This course provides an outline of the key differences in autism and how to interact with and support autistic children/young people.

Learning Objectives:

  • Approach autism as a difference and not a deficit;
  • Recognise the three areas of difference for autistic children/young people;
  • listening to the perspectives of autistic child/young people and their parents and carers;
  • reflecting on practice and adjustments that everyone can make to support autistic children and young people.

Duration

90-minutes

Time: Early Years, Schools and Post 16 versions are all offered twice termly (one morning & one evening delivery of each)

Who Is It For?

Parents and carers of autistic children/young people aged up to 25 years (SEND).

3 versions available: Early Years up to 5 years; School age 5-16years; & Post 16 with autism.
