Rising to Reception
Overview
‘Rising to Reception’ is a programme aimed at parents and carers of children due to start Reception and are known to the pre-school Speech and Language Therapy Team.
Enfield Communication Advisory Support Service (ECASS) has designed this transition programme in partnership with the pre-school speech and language therapy service to support parents and carers via a series of online information sessions to support this transition from nursery to reception.
At the end of the transition programme, parents and carers are enrolled onto the Elklan ‘Let’s Talk’ programme for further guidance and learning.
Duration
The programme runs annually with monthly sessions from November to JulyDelivery
OnlineWho Is It For?
Parents-Carers of children due to start Reception in September 2024 and are known to the pre-school Speech and Language Therapy Team;
Parents-Carers will be invited to all the ‘Rising to Reception’ events in 2024 if:
- Your child’s birthday is between 1 Sept 2019 and 31 Aug 2020
- Your child is known to Enfield pre-school Speech and Language Therapy Team
- You are concerned about you child’s development and readiness for school
- You are a Parent/Carer of a child with Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) who will be starting Reception in September 2024
Sessions are intended for parents of children with SLCN but are open for all parents to access.

Parents/carers will be invited if eligibility above is met.
