Successful Start to Secondary School
Overview
‘Successful Start to Secondary’ is a programme aimed at parents and carers of children due to start Year 7 who have been identified by their school as having a Speech, Language and Communication Need (SLCN).
As a multiagency team, Enfield Communication Advisory Support Service (ECASS) has designed a transition programme to support parents and carers via a series of online information sessions to support this transition from Year 6 to 7.
At the end of the transition programme, parents and carers will be invited to attend the Elklan ‘Let’s Talk’ programme for further guidance and learning.

The programme runs annually with monthly sessions from April to JulyDelivery
OnlineWho Is It For?
Parents/Carers of children due to start Year 7 in September 2024 and who meet the criteria below.
Parents/Carers will be invited to all the ‘Successful Start to Secondary’ events in 2024 if:
- Your child has been identified by their school as having a Speech, Language and Communication Need (SLCN)
- Your child is transitioning to secondary school in September 2024
Sessions are intended for parents of children with SLCN but are open for all parents to access
