Understanding Your Child: Toddler to Teenager

Overview

No matter your family setup, the important relationships in your child’s life help shape their emotional health and wellbeing.

Along this pathway you will learn about childhood development and emotional processing while being supported to reflect on your own child’s health and wellbeing, their behaviour and your relationship. A journey of understanding emotional health, wellbeing, behaviour, and much, more for raising confident, kind, emotionally aware and resilient people.

You’ll also learn about the foundations of wellbeing & mental health, how our brains work at different times in our lives and what this means for the way we think and express ourselves in childhood and as adults.  Whatever your child’s age, you can use the ideas and techniques to help better understand your child, their emotions and how to nurture them.

Bitesize stages for daily steps towards confident parenting and connected relationships includes:

  • child development
  • how the brain develops
  • understanding how your child is feeling
  • reading behaviours
  • tuning into what your child needs
  • processing feelings
  • different styles of parenting
  • having fun together
  • rhythm of interaction
  • why is sleep important?
  • self-regulation and anger
  • communication and tuning in

Duration

At your own pace - 13 stages, each taking around 15 minutes and broken up into manageable units
