Research confirms that the first 1001 days – conception to age 2, is a critical period of a child’s development
During the first 1001 days, a baby’s development is shaped by their environment and experiences.
As the baby grows inside the womb, the foetus is susceptible to the environment around the mother. It hears what the mother hears, it consumes what the mother consumes and may react when the mother is distressed.
Therefore, warm and supportive interactions and relationships are critical because they lay the foundations for learning, physical health, emotional development, and long-term mental health and wellbeing.
Research shows that it is important for parents and carers to stay physically and emotionally well so they can help their children thrive.
Our evidence-based programmes will support parents improve their self-awareness, make sense of their baby’s cues and how to respond sensitively to help them feel safe and calm.
